The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Every religion has a defining character, and the defining character of Islam is modesty."

قال رسول الله ﷺ إن لكل دين خلقا وخلق الإسلام الحياء
[Daif] Kharaiti narrated it in Makarim al-Akhlaq, no. 288, from the hadith of Yahya through this route, and Malik narrated it from Zuhri through this route, as did Tabarani in al-Saghir, 13/1, 14, and Khatib, 24/8, and it has corroborating reports in Malik, 905/2 (mursal), and elsewhere.
