On the day of Uhud, the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ front tooth was broken and his head was wounded. Blood began to flow down his face, and as he wiped it away he said, "How can a people prosper who have stained the face of their Prophet with blood while he calls them to Allah?"Then Allah revealed, "It is not for you to decide the matter" [Al Imran 3:128].

لما كان يوم أحد كسرت رباعية رسول الله ﷺ وشج فجعل الدم يسيل على وجهه وجعل يمسح الدم عن وجهه ويقول كيف يفلح قوم خضبوا وجه نبيهم بالدم وهو يدعوهم إلى الله فأنزل الله عز وجل {ليس لك من الأمر شيء}
Sourcing, sahih. Tirmidhi narrated it in the tafsir of the Quran, chapter, from Surah Al Imran, hadith 3002-3003, and others, from the hadith of Humayd, with this wording. Busiri graded it sahih. It has corroborating narrations in Muslim, hadith 10/1791, and Bukhari, hadith 4069, as a suspended report, and others.
