The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during the Farewell Pilgrimage, after asking the people to listen attentively, "Do not return to disbelief after me, striking one another's necks."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا محمد بن جعفر وعبد الرحمن بن مهدي قالا حدثنا شعبة عن علي بن مدرك قال سمعت أبا زرعة بن عمرو بن جرير يحدث
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال في حجة الوداع استنصت الناس فقال لا ترجعوا بعدي كفارا يضرب بعضكم رقاب بعض
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Knowledge, Chapter on Listening Attentively to Scholars, no. 4405/121, 7080, 6869, from the hadith of Shuba with this chain, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith, Chapter on Explaining the Meaning of the Prophet's ﷺ Statement, "Do not return to disbelief after me by striking one another's necks," no. 65, from Ibn Bashar with this chain.
