The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to throw dust in the faces of those who heap praise on others.
حدثنا أبو بكر حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي عن سفيان عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت عن مجاهد عن أبي معمر
أمرنا رسول الله ﷺ أن نحثو في وجوه المداحين التراب
Muslim reported it in the book of Zuhd, chapter on the prohibition of praise when it is excessive and there is fear of it causing harm to the one being praised, hadith no. 3002, from Ibn Abu Shayba, through this route.
