It was said to Suhayb, "Why do you go by the kunya Abu Yahya when you have no son?"He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me the kunya Abu Yahya."
[Its isnad is daif]. Ahmad (6/16) narrated it from the hadith of Zuhayr bin Muhammad, as related by him, and Ubaydullah bin Amr Ruqqi also transmitted it, as found in Ahmad. Hakim (4/278) graded it sahih, as did Dhahabi, while Busiri graded it hasan, but its chain is daif, since Ibn Aqeel is daif. It has daif corroborating narrations in Ahmad (4/333, 6/16) and Hakim (3/398, in which Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muammar, Hakim's teacher, is a narrator I did not find anyone to have deemed reliable, though the rest of the chain is hasan), and elsewhere.
