I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about stray camels that come to my watering troughs which I have plastered for my own camels. Will I be rewarded if I give them water?He replied, "Yes, there is a reward for watering every creature with a thirsty liver."

سألت رسول الله ﷺ عن ضالة الإبل تغشى حياضي قد لطتها لإبلي فهل لي من أجر إن سقيتها قال نعم في كل ذات كبد حرى أجر
[Sahih] Ahmad narrated it, 4/175, from the hadith of Ibn Ishaq with this wording, and Salih bin Kaysan corroborated him with Ahmad, where Zuhri's hearing of it is made explicit, and its basic report is found with Bukhari and others, and it has corroborating narrations with Bukhari and Muslim and others.
