The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took hold of the lower part of the muscle of my shin, or his own shin, and said, "This is the place of the lower garment. If you refuse, then lower. If you refuse, then lower. If you refuse, then the lower garment has no claim to the ankles."Ali bin Muhammad narrated to us, Sufyan bin Uyayna narrated to us, Abu Ishaq narrated to me, from Muslim bin Nadhir, from Hudhayfa, from the Prophet ﷺ, the like of it.
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن أبي إسحق عن مسلم بن نذير
أخذ رسول الله ﷺ بأسفل عضلة ساقي أو ساقه فقال هذا موضع الإزار فإن أبيت فأسفل فإن أبيت فأسفل فإن أبيت فلا حق للإزار في الكعبين حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة حدثني أبو إسحق عن مسلم بن نذير عن حذيفة عن النبي ﷺ مثله
[Its chain of transmission is sahih]. Tirmidhi narrated it in "Clothing," chapter on the extent of the waist wrap, no. 1783, from the hadith of Abu Ahwas, transmitted through him, and he said, This is a hasan sahih hadith. Thawri and Shubah also narrated it from Abu Ishaq.
