The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw Umar wearing a white shirt and asked, "Is this garment of yours washed or new?"Umar replied, "No, it is washed."He said, "Wear new clothes, live a praiseworthy life, and die a martyr."
[Its chain is daif]. Ahmad reported it (2/88), and Nasai in Al-Kubra, from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq, through him, and Nasai said, "Munkar." Ibn Hibban and Busiri graded it sahih, and Hafiz graded it hasan in Nataij Afkar. It contains Zuhri's use of an ambiguous form of transmission (anana), and it has a daif corroborating narration in Ibn Abu Shayba (8/265, 266, 10/402).
