Sahl bin Saad reported,

A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a burdah. The narrator was asked, "What is a burdah?" He replied, "A woven cloak."She said, "Messenger of Allah, I wove this with my own hands so that I might clothe you with it."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took it, being in need of it, then came out to us wearing it as his lower garment. So-and-so the son of so-and-so, a man whom he named that day, then came and said, "Messenger of Allah, how beautiful this burdah is. Give it to me to wear."He said, "Yes."When the Prophet ﷺ went inside, he folded it and sent it to him. The people said to the man, "By Allah, you did not do well. The Prophet ﷺ wore it because he needed it, then you asked him for it, knowing that he never turns away anyone who asks."The man replied, "By Allah, I did not ask him for it to wear it. I asked him for it so that it could be my burial shroud."Sahl said, And so it became his shroud the day he died.
