The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Make use of Indian wood," meaning kust, "for it contains seven cures, among them a remedy for pleurisy."Ibn Samaan, in his version of the hadith, reported it as, "It contains a cure for seven ailments, among them pleurisy."
حدثنا أبو طاهر أحمد بن عمرو بن السرح المصري حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب أنبأنا يونس وابن سمعان عن ابن شهاب عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عتبة
قال رسول الله ﷺ عليكم بالعود الهندي يعني به الكست فإن فيه سبعة أشفية منها ذات الجنب قال ابن سمعان في الحديث فإن فيه شفاء من سبعة أدواء منها ذات الجنب
Bukhari narrated it, Medicine, chapter on using nasal drops with Indian and marine costus, no. 5692, 5713, 5715, 5718, and Muslim, Greetings, chapter on treatment with Indian aloeswood, which is costus, no. 2214, from the hadith of Yunus, through him. I say, Ibn Saman was not alone in narrating it.
