The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from drinking by lowering our mouths directly to the water, which is called karaa, and he forbade us from scooping water with one hand. He said, "None of you should lap water the way a dog laps, nor drink with one hand the way the people upon whom Allah's wrath fell used to drink. And no one should drink at night from a vessel without first stirring it, unless the vessel is covered. Whoever drinks from his hand while able to use a vessel, doing so out of humility, Allah will record for him a good deed for each of his fingers. This was the vessel of Isa, son of Maryam, peace be upon them both, when he cast aside the cup and said, 'Ugh, this belongs with the world.'"

نهانا رسول الله ﷺ أن نشرب على بطوننا وهو الكرع ونهانا أن نغترف باليد الواحدة وقال لا يلغ أحدكم كما يلغ الكلب ولا يشرب باليد الواحدة كما يشرب القوم الذين سخط الله عليهم ولا يشرب بالليل من إناء حتى يحركه إلا أن يكون إناء مخمرا ومن شرب بيده وهو يقدر على إناء يريد التواضع كتب الله له بعدد أصابعه حسنات وهو إناء عيسى ابن مريم عليهما السلام إذ طرح القدح فقال أف هذا مع الدنيا
