The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever attributes to me what I did not say, let him take his seat in the Fire."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا محمد بن بشر عن محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة
قال رسول الله ﷺ من تقول علي ما لم أقل فليتبوأ مقعده من النار
[Sahih] Ahmad reported it: 2/501, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Amr, and he is hasan al-hadith (Mizan al-Itidal: 3/673). The hadith has very many routes of transmission.
