He attributed it to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Every drink that intoxicates is forbidden."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري عن أبي سلمة
تبلغ به النبي ﷺ قال كل شراب أسكر فهو حرام
Reported by Bukhari in the book of wudu, chapter "wudu is not permissible with date wine or intoxicants," 242, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna with this chain, and Muslim in the book of drinks, chapter "explanation that every intoxicant is wine, and every wine is forbidden," 69/2001, from Ibn Abu Shayba with this chain.
