I prepared food for the Prophet ﷺ containing some vegetables, but he did not eat it and said, "I dislike causing offense to my companion."

Sourcing, sahih. Tirmidhi transmitted it, Foods, chapter on the concession regarding eating cooked garlic, no. 1810, from the hadith of Sufyan, with this wording, and he said it is hasan sahih, unusual. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 1671, as did Ibn Hibban, vol. 2090, and it is sourced in my edition of the takhrij of Musnad Humaydi, no. 340.Ibn Uyayna explicitly stated that he heard it directly. Abu Yazid Makki is hasan al-hadith, as noted in the reference mentioned above, and the hadith has corroborating narrations.
