The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade a man from pairing two dates together when eating until he sought permission from his companions.
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي حدثنا سفيان عن جبلة بن سحيم سمعت
نهى رسول الله ﷺ أن يقرن الرجل بين التمرتين حتى يستأذن أصحابه
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Partnership, chapter on combining dates between partners without seeking their partners' permission, hadith no. 2489, from the hadith of Sufyan.Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Drinks, chapter on the prohibition against eating with a group by combining two dates and putting them together in one mouthful without the permission of one's companions, hadith no. 2045, from the hadith of Jabala bin Suhaym, with similar wording.
