He heard Abdullah bin Jafar telling Ibn Zubayr, while a camel had been slaughtered for them, that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, as the people were bringing pieces of meat to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "The best meat is the meat of the back."
حدثنا بكر بن خلف أبو بشر حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن مسعر حدثني
أنه سمع عبد الله بن جعفر يحدث ابن الزبير وقد نحر لهم جزورا أو بعيرا أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ قال والقوم يلقون لرسول الله ﷺ اللحم يقول أطيب اللحم لحم الظهر
[Its isnad is hasan]. Ahmad narrated it, 1/203-204, from Yahya bin Saeed, through this chain. It is also found in Shamail Tirmidhi, no. 162, and Sunan al-Kubra of Nasai, no. 6657. Hakim graded it sahih, 4/111, and Dhahabi agreed with him.* Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abu Rafi Fahmi, Abu Humayd, was declared trustworthy by Hakim, and likewise by Dhahabi, who graded his hadith sahih.
