During the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we used to eat while walking and drink while standing.
حدثنا أبو السائب سلم بن جنادة حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن عبيد الله بن عمر عن نافع
كنا على عهد رسول الله ﷺ نأكل ونحن نمشي ونشرب ونحن قيام
[Sahih]. Narrated by Tirmidhi, Book of Drinks, Chapter on the permission to drink while standing, no. 1880, from Abu Saaib Salam, with this wording, and he said it is hasan sahih, gharib. Ibn Hibban also graded it sahih (Mawarid, no. 1369). Hafs bin Ghiyath explicitly stated that he heard it directly, according to him. It was also narrated by Imran bin Hudayr, from Abu Bazri Yazid bin Attarid, from Ibn Umar, with this wording (Ahmad, 12/2, 29, 24).
