The Prophet ﷺ forbade flicking pebbles, saying, "It does not bring down game nor wound an enemy, but it puts out an eye and breaks a tooth."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا عبيد بن سعيد ح و حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا محمد بن جعفر قالا حدثنا شعبة عن قتادة عن عقبة بن صهبان
نهى النبي ﷺ عن الخذف وقال إنها لا تقتل الصيد ولا تنكي العدو ولكنها تفقأ العين وتكسر السن
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Manners, Chapter on the prohibition of pebble-throwing, hadith no. 6220 and no. 4841, from the hadith of Shubah, through this chain, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hunting and Slaughtered Animals, Chapter on the permissibility of using [dogs and similar means] as aid in hunting and warfare and the disapproval of pebble-throwing, hadith no. 55/1954, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Jafar, through this chain.
