We set out with the Prophet ﷺ on a Hajj or Umra when we encountered a swarm of locusts, and we began striking them with our whips and sandals. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Eat them, for they are among the game of the sea."
حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا وكيع حدثنا حماد ابن سلمة عن أبي المهزم
خرجنا مع النبي ﷺ في حجة أو عمرة فاستقبلنا رجل من جراد أو ضرب من جراد فجعلنا نضربهن بأسواطنا ونعالنا فقال النبي ﷺ كلوه فإنه من صيد البحر
Its isnad is very daif. Tirmidhi transmitted it in the book of Hajj, in the chapter on what has been said regarding sea game for one in the state of ihram, no. 850, from the hadith of Waki, and Abu Dawud, no. 1854, from the hadith of Abul-Mahzam, through this route. Tirmidhi said it is unfamiliar, and see no. 3086 regarding the status of Abul-Mahzam.
