I said, "Messenger of Allah, we hunt game and find nothing to slaughter it with except sharp stones and split sticks."He replied, "Let the blood flow with whatever you wish, and mention the name of Allah over it."
[Its chain is hasan] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices, chapter on slaughtering with a Marwa, hadith no. 2824, from the hadith of Simak, through this route. Ibn Hibban and Hakim graded it sahih according to the standard of Muslim, 4/240, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Shubah and Thawri both narrated it from Simak through this route. Mari bin Qatari was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Hibban and Hakim, though Dhahabi's assessment of him varied, and the judgment in his favor is the stronger view.
