The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by one of the houses of the Ansar and caught the scent of roasting meat. He asked, "Who has slaughtered?"A man from among us came out and said, "I did, Messenger of Allah. I slaughtered before performing the prayer so that I could feed my family and neighbors."He instructed him to slaughter another animal in its place.The man said, "By Allah, besides whom there is no god, I have nothing but a young sheep, or a lamb."He said, "Slaughter it, but a young sheep will not suffice for anyone after you."

مر رسول الله ﷺ بدار من دور الأنصار فوجد ريح قتار فقال من هذا الذي ذبح فخرج إليه رجل منا فقال أنا يا رسول الله ذبحت قبل أن أصلي لأطعم أهلي وجيراني فأمره أن يعيد فقال لا والله الذي لا إله إلا هو ما عندي إلا جذع أو حمل من الضأن قال اذبحها ولن تجزئ جذعة عن أحد بعدك

[Its chain is hasan] Ahmad narrated it (5/77) from the hadith of Abdul-Warith through this chain, and Busiri graded it hasan.Amr bin Bujdan was deemed unknown by Ibn Qattan and Dhahabi, while Ibn Hibban deemed him reliable. Ajli, who is balanced in his judgments, said, "A Basran, a successor, trustworthy." So the ruling that he is trustworthy is the stronger view.
