Hafsah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said, "Messenger of Allah, why have the people exited the state of ihram while you have not exited from your umrah?"He replied, "I have matted my hair and garlanded my sacrificial animal, so I will not exit ihram until I have slaughtered it."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو أسامة عن عبيد الله بن عمر عن نافع
أن حفصة زوج النبي ﷺ قالت قلت يا رسول الله ما شأن الناس حلوا ولم تحل أنت من عمرتك قال إني لبدت رأسي وقلدت هديي فلا أحل حتى أنحر
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Hajj, chapter on tamattu, qiran, and ifrad in Hajj, and on fasakh al-hajj for one who has no hadi with him, hadith no. 1566 and 1697 and others, from the hadith of Ubaydullah, with this chain, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hajj, chapter clarifying that the one performing qiran does not exit the state of ihram except at the time the one performing ifrad exits it, hadith no. 1229, from Ibn Abu Shayba, with this chain.
