I saw the bald one, Umar bin Khattab, kissing the Black Stone and saying, "I am kissing you, and I know full well that you are only a stone that can neither harm nor benefit. Had I not seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kiss you, I would not have kissed you."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وعلي بن محمد قالا حدثنا أبو معاوية حدثنا عاصم الأحول
رأيت الأصيلع عمر بن الخطاب يقبل الحجر ويقول إني لأقبلك وإني لأعلم أنك حجر لا تضر ولا تنفع ولولا أني رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يقبلك ما قبلتك
Muslim narrated it in the book of Hajj, chapter on the recommendation of kissing the Black Stone during tawaf, hadith no. 1270, from Ibn Abu Shayba, through this same chain.
