We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until, when we reached al-Arj, we stopped to rest. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down with Ayesha beside him, and I sat beside Abu Bakr. Our travel provisions and those of Abu Bakr were loaded together, in the care of Abu Bakr's servant.The servant came up without his camel, so Abu Bakr asked him, "Where is your camel?"He replied, "I lost it last night."Abu Bakr said, "You had only one camel and you lost it?"Then he began striking the servant, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was saying, "Look at this Muharram, what he is doing."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا عبد الله بن إدريس عن محمد بن إسحق عن يحيى بن عباد بن عبد الله بن الزبير عن أبيه
خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ حتى إذا كنا بالعرج نزلنا فجلس رسول الله ﷺ وعائشة إلى جنبه وأنا إلى جنب أبي بكر فكانت زمالتنا وزمالة أبي بكر واحدة مع غلام أبي بكر قال فطلع الغلام وليس معه بعيره فقال له أين بعيرك قال أضللته البارحة قال معك بعير واحد تضله قال فطفق يضربه ورسول الله ﷺ يقول انظروا إلى هذا المحرم ما يصنع
[Its isnad is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Rites of Hajj, chapter, "The pilgrim disciplining his slave," hadith no. 1818, from the hadith of Ibn Idris with this wording. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith no. 2679, as did Hakim, who said it meets the criteria of Muslim, 1/453, 454, and Dhahabi agreed with him.Ibn Ishaq used an ambiguous form of transmission (anana), as noted previously at hadith no. 1209, and the rest of the chain is sahih.
