A man stood up before the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "Messenger of Allah, what makes Hajj obligatory?"He replied, "Provisions and a mount."The man asked, "Messenger of Allah, who is the true pilgrim?"He replied, "The disheveled and the dust-covered."Another man stood up and asked, "Messenger of Allah, what is Hajj?"He replied, "Raising voices and shedding blood."Waki explained that "raising voices" refers to lifting one's voice in the talbiyah, and "shedding blood" refers to the sacrifice of the camels.
حدثنا هشام بن عمار حدثنا مروان بن معاوية ح و حدثنا علي بن محمد وعمرو بن عبد الله قالا حدثنا وكيع حدثنا إبراهيم بن يزيد المكي عن محمد بن عباد بن جعفر المخزومي
قام رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال يا رسول الله ما يوجب الحج قال الزاد والراحلة قال يا رسول الله فما الحاج قال الشعث التفل وقام آخر فقال يا رسول الله ما الحج قال العج والثج قال وكيع يعني بالعج العجيج بالتلبية والثج نحر البدن
[Daif] Reported by Tirmidhi, Hajj, chapter on what has been said regarding the obligation of Hajj through provisions and mount, no. 813, from the hadith of Waki, with this wording, and he said, hasan. Ibrahim bin Yazid Khawzi has been discussed previously, no. 1521, so the hadith is daif because of him. It has other routes narrated from Anas, Ayesha, and others, but their chains are daif.
