The Prophet ﷺ performed the pilgrimage on a worn-out saddle, with a cloak worth about four dirhams, or perhaps not even that much. Then he said, "O Allah, grant a pilgrimage free of showing off and seeking renown."
Graded hasan. Ibn Abu Shayba narrated it, 4/106, from Waki through the same chain, but Busiri graded it daif because of Yazid bin Aban, discussed previously at hadith 1080, and because of Rabi bin Sabih (truthful, but weak in memory, and he was a devoted worshiper who strove hard in worship, per Taqrib). Suyuti also graded it daif in Jami Saghir (see Fayd Qadir, 22/182, hadith 1534).It has corroborating narrations, including one narrated by Ibn Khuzayma in his Sahih, 4/262, hadith 2836, which includes Saeed bin Bashir Qurashi Misri and Abdullah bin Hakeem Kinani. Abu Hatim considered both of them unknown, while Ibn Khuzayma judged them reliable.
