I saw a man asking my father about someone who goes out on a military expedition and engages in buying, selling, and trading during his campaign.My father told him, "We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Tabuk, buying and selling, and he saw us doing so but did not forbid us."

[Its isnad is very daif] Tabarani reported it, 5/137-138, via another route from Khalid bin Jiyan, with the same wording, and Busiri said, "This isnad is daif due to the weakness of Ali bin Urwa and Sunayd bin Dawud." Sunayd has a corroborator, as mentioned previously, no. 1332, so the defect lies in Ali bin Urwa, since he is discarded (matruk), as stated in Taqrib and elsewhere.
