I was present with the Prophet ﷺ on the day of Uhud. I struck one of the polytheists and said, "Take that from me, I am the Persian lad."This reached the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Why did you not say, 'Take it, I am the Ansari lad'?"
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا حسين بن محمد حدثنا جرير بن حازم بن إسحق عن محمد بن إسحق عن داود بن الحصين عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي عقبة
شهدت مع النبي ﷺ يوم أحد فضربت رجلا من المشركين فقلت خذها مني وأنا الغلام الفارسي فبلغت النبي ﷺ فقال ألا قلت خذها وأنا الغلام الأنصاري
[Its chain is daif]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Manners, Chapter on Tribal Partisanship, no. 5123, by way of Husayn. Jareer explicitly stated hearing it, as recorded by Dulabi in Kuna, 1/45. Ibn Ishaq narrated it with an ambiguous form of transmission (an'ana), as noted previously, no. 1209. And Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Uqbah is of unknown reliability, no one having deemed him reliable except Ibn Hibban, as far as I know.
