The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man may perform the deeds of the righteous for seventy years, but when he comes to make his will, he acts unjustly in it, so his life is sealed with an evil deed and he enters the Fire. And a man may perform the deeds of the wicked for seventy years, but he is fair in his will, so his life is sealed with a good deed and he enters Paradise."Abu Hurairah said, "Recite if you wish, 'These are the limits set by Allah' up to His words 'a humiliating punishment'" [Nisa 4:13–14].
حدثنا أحمد بن الأزهر حدثنا عبد الرزاق بن همام أنبأنا معمر عن أشعث بن عبد الله عن شهر بن حوشب
قال رسول الله ﷺ إن الرجل ليعمل بعمل أهل الخير سبعين سنة فإذا أوصى حاف في وصيته فيختم له بشر عمله فيدخل النار وإن الرجل ليعمل بعمل أهل الشر سبعين سنة فيعدل في وصيته فيختم له بخير عمله فيدخل الجنة قال أبو هريرة واقرءوا إن شئتم {تلك حدود الله} إلى قوله {عذاب مهين}
[Its isnad is hasan] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Bequests, Chapter on the Dislike of Causing Harm in a Bequest, no. 2867, from the hadith of Ashath, by this route, and Tirmidhi graded it hasan, no. 2117.I say, Shahr's status was discussed earlier, at no. 1496, and the specific criticism against him that would disqualify his integrity as a narrator has not been established, and the story about theft has not been confirmed to be sound.Dhahabi said in Diwan al-Duafa (p. 145), "Shahr bin Hawshab is disputed, but his hadith is hasan." And Asqalani said in Fath al-Bari (3/65), "Shahr's hadith is hasan, even though there is some weakness in him."
