I said to Abdullah bin Abu Awfa, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ leave a will?"He replied, "No."I asked, "Then how is it that he commanded the Muslims to make a will?"He answered, "He left as his will the Book of Allah."Malik said that Talha bin Musarrif reported that Huzayll bin Shurahbil said, "Was Abu Bakr going to take authority over the one appointed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Abu Bakr would have wished, had he found any covenant from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding succession, that his nose be pierced with a nose-ring and led by it."
