The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever kills a person under a covenant of protection will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance can be detected from a distance of forty years' travel."
حدثنا أبو كريب حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الحسن بن عمرو عن مجاهد
قال رسول الله ﷺ من قتل معاهدا لم يرح رائحة الجنة وإن ريحها ليوجد من مسيرة أربعين عاما
Bukhari narrated it, Jizya and Truces, chapter on the sin of killing a person under a covenant of protection without any wrongdoing on his part, no. 3166, 6914, from the hadith of Hasan bin Amr, through this same chain.
