Abdullah bin Amr bin As reported,

Huwaysa and Muhaysa, the sons of Masud, along with Abdullah and Abdul-Rahman, the sons of Sahl, set out to bring back provisions from Khaybar. Abdullah was attacked and killed. The matter was reported to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Will you swear oaths and thereby establish your right to compensation?"They replied, "Messenger of Allah, how can we swear when we did not witness it?"He said, "Then the Jews will clear themselves by oath."They said, "Messenger of Allah, in that case they will kill us."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ paid the blood-money for him from his own resources.
