Salama bin Muhabbiq reported,

Someone said to Abu Thabit Saad bin Ubada, who was a jealous man, when the verse of the prescribed punishments was revealed, "Tell us, if you found a man with your wife, what would you do?"He answered, "I would strike them both with my sword. Am I supposed to wait until I can bring four witnesses? By then he would have satisfied his desire and gone. Or should I say, 'I saw such and such,' so that you flog me with the punishment for slander and never accept my testimony again?"This was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "The sword is witness enough." Then he said, "No, I fear that drunken men and jealous men would take to doing this one after another."Abu Abdullah, meaning Ibn Majah, said, "I heard Abu Zurah say that this is the hadith of Ali bin Muhammad Tanafisi, and I missed hearing it from him."

عن سلمة بن المحبق قال

قيل لأبي ثابت سعد بن عبادة حين نزلت آية الحدود وكان رجلا غيورا أرأيت لو أنك وجدت مع امرأتك رجلا أي شيء كنت تصنع قال كنت ضاربهما بالسيف أنتظر حتى أجيء بأربعة إلى ما ذاك قد قضى حاجته وذهب أو أقول رأيت كذا وكذا فتضربوني الحد ولا تقبلوا لي شهادة أبدا قال فذكر ذلك للنبي ﷺ فقال كفى بالسيف شاهدا ثم قال لا إني أخاف أن يتتابع في ذلك السكران والغيران قال أبو عبد الله يعني ابن ماجه سمعت أبا زرعة يقول هذا حديث علي بن محمد الطنافسي وفاتني منه
