The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If a slave steals, sell him, even for half an ounce of silver."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو أسامة عن أبي عوانة عن عمر بن أبي سلمة عن أبيه
قال رسول الله ﷺ إذا سرق العبد فبيعوه ولو بنش
Its isnad is hasan. Abu Dawud reported it in the Book of Hudud, chapter on selling a slave when he steals, hadith no. 4412, from the hadith of Abu Awana with this wording. Nasai said, in hadith no. 4983, that Umar bin Abu Salama is not strong in hadith. I say, he is hasan al-hadith, as I have established in Nayl al-Maqsud.
