We used to engage in muhaqalah during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He related that one of his uncles came to them and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever has land should not lease it out for a specified amount of produce.'"

كنا نحاقل على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فزعم أن بعض عمومته أتاهم فقال قال رسول الله ﷺ من كانت له أرض فلا يكريها بطعام مسمى
Muslim narrated it in al-Buyu, chapter "Renting Land for Food," h. 1548, from the hadith of Saeed bin Abu Aruba, by this same route.
