The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade muhaqalah, and muhaqalah is the renting of land.

نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن المحاقلة والمحاقلة استكراء الأرض
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Trade, chapter on the sale of muzabanah, which is the sale of dried dates for fresh dates and the sale of raisins for grapes on the vine, and the sale of araya, hadith no. 2186, and Muslim narrated it in the same chapter, hadith no. 1546/105, from the hadith of Malik, with the same wording.
