The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The example of one who takes back his gift is like a dog that eats until it is full, then vomits, then returns to its vomit and eats it."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو أسامة عن عوف عن خلاس
قال رسول الله ﷺ إن مثل الذي يعود في عطيته كمثل الكلب أكل حتى إذا شبع قاء ثم عاد في قيئه فأكله
Sourcing, sahih. Ahmad narrated it (2/492, 430) from the hadith of Awf Arabi with this wording. Busiri said it is munqati, since Khilas bin Amr Hijri never heard anything from Abu Hurairah.I say, Muhammad bin Sirin corroborated him, narrating from Abu Hurairah with this wording, as found in Ahmad (2/492) and elsewhere. So the hadith is sahih.
