The Prophet ﷺ gave a boy the choice between his father and his mother, saying, "Boy, this is your mother and this is your father."
حدثنا هشام بن عمار حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن زياد بن سعد عن هلال بن أبي ميمونة عن أبي ميمونة
أن النبي ﷺ خير غلاما بين أبيه وأمه وقال يا غلام هذه أمك وهذا أبوك
[Sahih]. Tirmidhi reported it in the Book of Rulings, chapter on giving the boy the choice between his two parents when they separate, hadith no. 1357, from the hadith of Sufyan with this chain, and he said, hasan sahih. Abu Dawud also reported it, hadith no. 2277, from the hadith of Ibn Jurayj, "Ziyad informed me," with this chain, and its isnad is sahih.
