The Prophet ﷺ said, "The one who strives to support the widow and the poor is like the Mujahid in the path of Allah, and like the one who stands in prayer through the night and fasts during the day."
حدثنا يعقوب بن حميد بن كاسب حدثنا عبد العزيز الدراوردي عن ثور بن زيد الديلي عن أبي الغيث مولى ابن مطيع
أن النبي ﷺ قال الساعي على الأرملة والمسكين كالمجاهد في سبيل الله وكالذي يقوم الليل ويصوم النهار
Bukhari narrated it in the chapters on Expenditures, in the chapter titled "The Merit of Spending on One's Family," etc., hadith no. 5353, and Muslim in the chapters on Asceticism, in the chapter titled "The Merit of Kindness to the Widow, the Poor, and the Orphan," hadith no. 2982, from the hadith of Thawr, through this same chain.
