The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No woman should mourn for any deceased person more than three days, except a wife who mourns for her husband four months and ten days. During that period she must not wear a dyed garment, except one made of asb cloth, nor apply kohl, nor use perfume, except when she purifies herself at the end of her menses, when she may use a small piece of qust or azfar."
