Barirah was instructed to observe a waiting period of three menstrual cycles.

Graded hasan. Busiri said, "Its chain is sahih and its narrators are trustworthy," but Sufyan Thawri used ambiguous transmission wording (meaning it was already mentioned, hadith 162, and it has another defect). Abu Dawud narrated, hadith 2232, from the hadith of Ibn Abbas that the Prophet ﷺ ordered concerning Barirah that she observe a waiting period, and it is in Sahih Bukhari, hadith 5280, in a very abbreviated form. Ahmad narrated it from Affan from Hammam, the hadith of Ibn Abbas at length, and it states that she observes the waiting period of a free woman, and I did not find anything that contradicts this.
