Abd bin Zamah and Saad brought a dispute before the Prophet ﷺ concerning the son of Zamah's slave-girl.Saad said, "Messenger of Allah, my brother instructed me that when I arrived in Mecca, I should look for the son of Zamah's slave-girl and take him into my custody."Abd bin Zamah said, "He is my brother and the son of my father's slave-girl, born on my father's bed."The Prophet ﷺ noticed his resemblance to Utbah, but he said, "He is yours, Abd bin Zamah. The child belongs to the bed. And you, Sawdah, must veil yourself from him."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري عن عروة
إن عبد بن زمعة وسعدا اختصما إلى النبي ﷺ في ابن أمة زمعة فقال سعد يا رسول الله أوصاني أخي إذا قدمت مكة أن أنظر إلى ابن أمة زمعة فأقبضه وقال عبد بن زمعة أخي وابن أمة أبي ولد على فراش أبي فرأى النبي ﷺ شبهه بعتبة فقال هو لك يا عبد بن زمعة الولد للفراش واحتجبي عنه يا سودة
Bukhari narrated it in Khusumat, chapter on the guardian's claim on behalf of the deceased, hadith no. 2421, from the hadith of Sufyan, through him, and Muslim in Rada, chapter on the child belonging to the marriage bed and avoiding doubtful matters, hadith no. 1457, from Ibn Abu Shayba and others.
