The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bad omen lies in three things, in the horse, the woman, and the house."Zuhri said, Abu Ubayda bin Abdullah bin Zamah told me that his grandmother Zaynab told him, on the authority of Umm Salama, that she used to count these three and add the sword to them.
This hadith was related by Bukhari, in the Book of Medicine, chapter on bad omens, hadith no. 5753, and by Muslim, in the Book of Greetings, in the previous chapter, hadith no. 2225, and by others, through the route of Zuhri, with similar wording, except that Bukhari said "riding animal" instead of "horse." This version of the hadith is abridged, and the previous hadith takes precedence over it, since it contains an addition. And Allah knows best.
