The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to divide his time among his wives with fairness, then he would say, "Allah, this is what I do regarding what I have control over, so do not blame me for what You control and I do not."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة ومحمد بن يحيى قالا حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أنبأنا حماد بن سلمة عن أيوب عن أبي قلابة عن عبد الله بن يزيد
كان رسول الله ﷺ يقسم بين نسائه فيعدل ثم يقول اللهم هذا فعلي فيما أملك فلا تلمني فيما تملك ولا أملك
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Dawud transmitted it in the Book of Marriage, Chapter on Dividing Time Between Wives, hadith 2134, tracing it through the report of Hammad, and Hakim and Dhahabi graded it sahih. Hammad bin Zayd and Ibn Ulaya related it from Ayub from Abu Qilaba as a mursal report, but this does not harm it, and both routes are preserved. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (Mawarid), hadith 1305, as did Ibn Kathir.
