The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to prepare Fatimah so that we could bring her in to Ali. So we went to the house and spread soft earth from the outskirts of Batha across its floor. Then we stuffed two cushions with palm fiber, fluffing them up with our hands. After that we served dates and raisins and provided sweet water to drink. We took a wooden pole and set it across one side of the room so that a garment could be draped over it and the waterskin hung from it. We had never seen a wedding finer than the wedding of Fatimah.
حدثنا سويد بن سعيد حدثنا المفضل بن عبد الله عن جابر عن الشعبي عن مسروق
أمرنا رسول الله ﷺ أن نجهز فاطمة حتى ندخلها على علي فعمدنا إلى البيت ففرشناه ترابا لينا من أعراض البطحاء ثم حشونا مرفقتين ليفا فنفشناه بأيدينا ثم أطعمنا تمرا وزبيبا وسقينا ماء عذبا وعمدنا إلى عود فعرضناه في جانب البيت ليلقى عليه الثوب ويعلق عليه السقاء فما رأينا عرسا أحسن من عرس فاطمة
