A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he asked, "Who will marry her?"A man replied, "I will."The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Give her something, even if it be a ring of iron."The man said, "I have nothing."The Prophet ﷺ said, "I have married her to you for what you know of the Quran."
حدثنا حفص بن عمرو حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي عن سفيان عن أبي حازم
جاءت امرأة إلى النبي ﷺ قال من يتزوجها فقال رجل أنا فقال له النبي ﷺ أعطها ولو خاتما من حديد فقال ليس معي قال قد زوجتكها على ما معك من القرآن
Takhrij (Source Citation): Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Marriage, in the chapter on marriage with a handful of dates, or goods, or an iron ring, hadith no. 5150, through the route of Sufyan, from him. Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Marriage, in the chapter on the dower and the permissibility of it being the teaching of the Quran, etc., hadith no. 1425, through another route from Abu Hazim, from him.
