The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made the zakat of Fitr obligatory, a sa of barley or a sa of dates, upon every free person or slave, male or female, among the Muslims.
حدثنا حفص بن عمرو حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي حدثنا مالك بن أنس عن نافع
فرض رسول الله ﷺ صدقة الفطر صاعا من شعير أو صاعا من تمر على كل حر أو عبد ذكر أو أنثى من المسلمين
Bukhari narrated it in Zakat, chapter on sadaqat al-fitr for the slave and other Muslims, hadith no. 1504, and Muslim in Zakat, the preceding chapter, hadith no. 984, from the hadith of Malik, through him.
