The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us, and we offered him some food. One of those present with him was fasting, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When food is eaten in the presence of someone who is fasting, the angels send blessings upon him."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وعلي بن محمد وسهل قالوا حدثنا وكيع عن شعبة عن حبيب بن زيد الأنصاري عن امرأة يقال لها ليلى
أتانا رسول الله ﷺ فقربنا إليه طعاما فكان بعض من عنده صائما فقال رسول الله ﷺ الصائم إذا أكل عنده الطعام صلت عليه الملائكة
[Its isnad is hasan] Tirmidhi reported it, Fasting, chapter on the merit of one who fasts when someone eats in his presence, no. 785, 786, from the hadith of Shuba through this route, and he said, hasan sahih. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2138, 2139, as did Ibn Hibban (Mawarid), no. 953.Layla was deemed reliable by Tirmidhi, Ibn Khuzayma, Ibn Hibban, and others, so her hadith does not fall below the level of hasan. 2139, 2138.
