The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Breaking the bone of a deceased person is like breaking it while he is alive."
حدثنا هشام بن عمار قال حدثنا عبد العزيز بن محمد الدراوردي قال حدثنا سعد بن سعيد عن عمرة
قال رسول الله ﷺ كسر عظم الميت ككسره حيا
Its chain is hasan. Abu Dawud collected it in the Book of Funerals, chapter on the gravedigger who finds a bone, should he avoid that spot?, hadith no. 3207, from the hadith of Abdul-Aziz Darawardi, with this chain. Ibn Hibban, Ibn Jarud, and others graded it sahih, and Ibn Qattan Fasi graded it hasan.
