The Prophet ﷺ went out with them and said, "Pray over a brother of yours who has died in a land other than yours."They asked, "Who is he?"He replied, "An-Najashi."
حدثنا محمد بن المثنى حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي عن المثنى بن سعيد عن قتادة عن أبي الطفيل
أن النبي ﷺ خرج بهم فقال صلوا على أخ لكم مات بغير أرضكم قالوا من هو قال النجاشي
[Sahih] Ahmad: 7/4 reported it from the hadith of Muthanna via this route, and a group of narrators corroborated him. Qatada is a mudallis, as mentioned earlier, 175, and I did not find an explicit statement of his hearing it, but his hadith has supporting narrations, see 1534, 1535.
